Excitement Rating: 8/10. While a season opener (and home opener) always holds some special appeal, most games against FCS opponents are not going to be so exciting. Weber State is #20 in the FCS preseason poll, but UW is a 27.5 point favorite, so it’s unlikely that game comes down to the closing moments.
However, this game is more exciting than the usual four-TD spread due to the circumstances. After nearly eight months of waiting, this will be Husky fans’ first chance to see Jedd Fisch’s blueprint in action. How will the offense, built around Will Rogers and Jonah Coleman, go about its business? Will the patchwork offensive line hold up against one of the more manageable opponents on the schedule? Will we see clear defensive playmakers right away, or will Steve Belichick favor more of a situational, rotation style?
