Emmy Award nominations were announced in July. Hulu’s historical drama “Shōgun” earned 25 nods, making it the most nominated series. Following slightly behind was “The Bear,” which set a record in the comedy field after securing 23 nominations. The previous record was held by “30 Rock,” which received 22 nominations in 2009.

Other shows like “Abbott Elementary,” “Only Murders in the Building,” “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” “Fallout” and “The Gilded Age” earned multiple recognitions from the Television Academy this year, too.

Among the 36 first-time Emmy nominees hoping to take home one of the golden statues are Oscar winners Jodie Foster and Brie Larson, who are both nominated for outstanding lead actress in a limited or anthology series or movie for their work in “True Detective: Night Country” and “Lessons in Chemistry,” respectively.
