We’re just past the halfway point of the election campaign and Anthony Albanese and Peter Dutton will tonight get another chance to pitch their case to the Australian public.
Here’s how you can watch the second debate between the two leaders.
When is the second debate?
The second debate between the prime minister and opposition leader is scheduled for tonight, Wednesday, April 16, at 8pm AEST. For audience members in the NT and SA, that’s 7:30pm, and 6pm for WA.
Here’s how to watch the debate
The second debate will air for free on the ABC.
The debate will be broadcast live on both the ABC’s main channel and ABC NEWS, live streamed on ABC iview and will also be available on demand afterwards.
Coverage will also be blogged live right here on the ABC NEWS website.
The debate can also be listened to across ABC Local Radio, Radio National, ABC NewsRadio and the ABC listen app.
The ABC News leaders debate will also be available live in Auslan on ABC iview from 8pm. To find it, search for “Auslan”.
Who will host?
The second debate will be held at the ABC’s new Parramatta studios and moderated by national political lead and Insiders host David Speers.
What happened in the last debate?
In last week’s debate, broadcast on Sky News, Mr Albanese and Mr Dutton traded barbs over inflation and the cost of living, energy policy, healthcare costs and funding for essential services.
Sky News declared Mr Albanese the winner of the first debate after the audience of 100 undecided voters was polled afterwards, with 44 preferring the prime minister’s pitch over 35 for Mr Dutton.
Will there be more debates?
Yes.
Commercial networks Nine and Seven have each announced they’ll host debates between the leaders.
After the ABC, Nine will host the next debate on Tuesday, April 22.
Seven will host a fourth debate on Sunday, April 27.
