Australian Open Day 8 Order of Play: Schedule and how to watch Novak Djokovic, Aryna Sabalenka and Coco Gauff

Defending singles champions Novak Djokovic and Aryna Sabalenka headline a blockbuster eighth day of the Australian Open that will also see the likes of Coco Gauff and Jannik Sinner in action.

Should he down the Frenchman, who beat Ben Shelton in the third round, he will reach his 13th quarter-final in Melbourne.

She takes on American Amanda Anisimova on Margaret Court Arena for a place in the last eight.

Last year’s US Open champion Coco Gauff is also in action as she plays Poland’s Magdalena Frech.

Elsewhere, there are some intriguing match-ups between seeds in the men’s singles.

Jannik Sinner (4) faces Karen Khachanov (15), Taylor Fritz (12) takes on Stefanos Tsitsipas (7), and Alex de Minaur (10) is up against Andrey Rublev (5).

Djokovic headlines the men’s action in Melbourne on Sunday. The Serbian has now won 31 consecutive Australian Open matches and you would be brave to bet against him continuing that winning streak to make another quarter-final.

Having struggled to find top gear in the first two rounds, he returned to something like his best to swat aside the highly-rated Etcheverry.

Mannarino, on the other hand, needed five sets to get the better of Shelton in a match that lasted almost five hours.

Defending champion Sabalenka has been in devastating form so far in Melbourne. She has lost just six games in three matches and is coming off the back of a resounding 6-0 6-0 win over Tsurenko.

It is unlikely she will produce another result like that against Anisimova, however.

Sabalenka might have won the last meeting between the pair but the American leads the head-to-head 4-1.

Anisimova has yet to drop a set, dispatching Liudmila Samsonova, Nadia Podoroska and Paula Badosa to set up a clash with Sabalenka.

US Open champion Gauff is another who is going about her business in Melbourne with ruthless efficiency. The American has been in fine form to reach the fourth round without dropping a set.

She was given a brief scare by Caroline Dolehide in the second round but beat Alycia Parks 6-0 6-2 last time out to underline her title credentials.

Gauff will be the heavy favourite when she takes to the court against world No. 69 Frech for a place in the quarter-finals.

Also in action is the much-fancied Sinner. The No. 4 seed lost just four games in his third-round encounter with Sebastian Baez but faces a potential banana skin in Khachanov next.

Elsewhere, home favourite De Minaur is up against Rublev, while Taylor Fritz takes on Tsitsipas in what could be a thriller.
