How to take first order with good proposal at… – Page 167

Afrooz,

The coup you need to pull off (if I read your profile correctly) is to find a way to sell yourself as an academic writer, where the pay is lucrative, while also offering your services for content writing, where the pay can be atrocious.

I would recommend you go straight to it and change your working title to “Medical Writer / Academic and Content Expert”

The write-up itself also needs to be clear from the start. “I have a Bachelor in Pharmacy,” does not do that.

The clearest you can go is to say, “I am a college-educated medical writer with a degree in pharmacology who can produce content and academic writing across a wide spectrum of medical topics.”

“My skills include _____________________________.”

At that point write a bit about your skills in narrative form. Very few people read lists. Putting your skills into a storytelling format is more memorable and more effective.

Also, Upwork clients are interested in results, so you want to tie everything you say to a determined result. This would be something like, “I can write insightful, research-backed articles that your readers will enjoy.”

That type of writing is more effective than: My skills include … reading … analyzing … etc.”

You might say, for example, “With my pharmacology background, I understand medical terminology and know how to make use of this for everyone from a highly trained medical audience to the man on the street.”

Also, try to write in an active voice, rather than passive. “Writing scientific articles and even blogs for posts are among the tasks that I can do well,” should be, “I can write articles for the general public and for doctor-to-doctor level audiences.”

Anyway, those are some random thoughts.

Good luck.
