As the Lok Sabha elections of 2024 dates have been announced, people have already started making up their minds to cast their votes. But to be able to cast a vote, it is important to have your name on the electoral list made by the Election Commission of India along with the Voter ID.

Lok Sabha Election 2024 will be held across the country starting April 19 and will continue till June 4.
Why this is important
Merely having a Voter ID card is not enough to cast votes and the electoral list keeps changing from time to time. At times, it has happened that some names are missing or have been removed from the list due to several reasons. Hence it is important to check whether your name is there on the list before elections and here’s how you can do it online.
Prerequisites:

  • EPIC Number
  • Name
  • Age
  • Date of Birth
  • District and Assembly Constituency

Visit ‘Voters’ service portal’
Head to ‘https://electoralsearch.eci.gov.in/’ on your phone, PC or laptop using any web browser.

Choose between available options to search your name in the Electoral Roll
On the page, you’ll see three options — Search by Details, Search by EPIC and Search by Mobile.

  • ‘Search by Details: Enter necessary details like Name, Surname, DoB, etc. Then enter CAPTCHA and hit the ‘Search button.
  • ‘Search by EPIC’: Choose language, EPIC Number (you’ll find this on the Voter ID), state, Captcha and click on Search button.
  • ‘Search by Mobile’: Select State and language. Then enter mobile number registered with Voter ID and Captcha and hit the Search button.

If your name is there in the search result, then your name is in the electoral list and you can cast your vote, given your have your Voter ID with you.
