(CNN) – If you plan to watch Monday’s total solar eclipse, you need to check to make sure you don’t have fake glasses first.
Here’s how to tell if your glasses are real or fake.
In the photo above, the glasses on the top are fake. The ones on the bottom are real.
Experts say counterfeit glasses have black sunglass-like lenses that have straight left and right edges.
In comparison, real eclipse glasses have reflective lenses, and the edges are curved.
According to the American Astronomical Society, counterfeit glasses may be hard to spot because they have text and original artwork that makes them appear real.
To make sure you’re not getting a fake pair of eclipse glasses, you can check the list of safe manufacturers and resellers on the American Astronomical Society’s website here.
