JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – From learning how to save a life to connecting with those who help make the rescues happen, hundreds of Jacksonville residents got plenty of behind-the-scenes experiences during Day 2 of the Jax Ready Fest.
Inside and outside the Prime Osborn Convention Center people could find something fun, interesting, and even adorable to see and experience.
Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department showed off its home fire simulator, which helped explain how to respond to fires that can happen in everyday situations.
The simulator even had a mock news emergency broadcast that led to a lightning storm simulator that shook the room.
“We do live in Florida, and we are the lighting state,” JFRD Inspector Gene Fullwood said.

That’s why James and Vickie Freeman stopped by.
“We were here for all the hurricanes and making sure we’re prepared for that. The storm yesterday was pretty intense also,” Vickie said.
That’s why it’s important to have a plan in place, and everything you need.
Attendees also had the opportunity to build a preparedness kit for their pets. After all, there’s no such thing as being too prepared.
Helping Jacksonville residents get Jax Ready, so they can keep their families safe today — and every day.
