Almost exactly five years after Scooter Braun purchased Taylor Swift’s masters, Discovery+ UK is exploring both sides of the highly-publicized and controversial acquisition in a new docuseries. Discover when and how to watch Taylor Swift vs. Scooter Braun: Bad Blood below.

The anticipated two-part docuseries delves into the feud between the billionare pop star and the veteran music executive. In 2019, Swift’s first six albums were bought by Braun’s Ithaca Holdings after Braun acquired the singer’s former label, Big Machine Records, in a $300 million deal.

Swift asserted that she was never consulted on the deal and, therefore, never given a chance to buy back her catalog. “This is my worst case scenario. This is what happens when you sign a deal at fifteen to someone for whom the term ‘loyalty’ is clearly just a contractual concept,” Swift penned on Tumblr at the time.

The singer continued, “Now Scooter has stripped me of my life’s work, that I wasn’t given an opportunity to buy. Essentially, my musical legacy is about to lie in the hands of someone who tried to dismantle it.”

In 2020, Ithaca Holdings sold the rights to Swift’s masters to Shamrock Capitol for $300 million — the same amount it was reportedly acquired for. To recclaim ownership of her life’s work, Swift started re-recording her first six albums in 2021 under a new partnership with Republic Records and Universal Music Group.

So far, Swift has released re-recorded versions of Fearless (Taylor’s Version), Red (Taylor’s Version), Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), and 1989 (Taylor’s Version), and has two more to go — Reputation and her debut album.

In 2022, Braun told NPR that he wished the Big Machine acquisition was done differently. “The regret I have there is that I made the assumption that everyone, once the deal was done, was going to have a conversation with me, see my intent, see my character and say, great, let’s be in business together.”

The upcoming Max special will feature legal experts, journalists, and individuals close to Swift and Braun to explain the situation. Other installments in WBD U.K.’s “vs” series include Johnny vs Amber, Kim vs Kanye: The Divorce, and Vardy vs Rooney: The Wagatha Trial.
