Tenaris moderates discussion on how to enhance transportation and storage at Carbon Capture Canada

Tenaris actively participated in the Carbon Capture Canada convention this week in Edmonton, a key event focused on advancing carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technologies across Canada. This year’s edition brought together industry leaders and stakeholders to discuss critical steps in expediting decarbonization goals.

Dave McHattie, Tenaris’s Vice President of Institutional Relations in Canada, played a prominent role as moderator of the panel “Enhancing Carbon Dioxide Transportation and Storage.” The session explored crucial aspects of accelerating carbon capture projects, including identifying commercial opportunities, navigating regulatory advancements, and leveraging technological innovations.

Joining McHattie on the panel were renowned industry figures: Cullen Colville, Vice President Business Development of Wolf Midstream; Matthew Brister, President of Bison Low Carbon Ventures; and Neil Wildgust, President & CEO of Carbon Management Canada.

According to McHattie, “Canada has the opportunity to double its carbon capture utilization and storage infrastructure in the next 5 years and has all the necessary ingredients to make that happen: the companies, the technologies, the reservoir; I was happy to hear from people leading these businesses that they are optimistic about what they will achieve in the next 3 to 5 years”.

Sharing knowledge beyond the panel

In addition to the panel discussion, Tenaris showcased its expertise through Jonathan Olsen‘s presentation at the Enbridge Knowledge Bar. Olsen, Tenaris’s Technical Sales Manager in Canada, shared insights on downhole solutions for underground storage. His presentation delved into Tenaris’s experiences and ongoing testing initiatives around the world to deepen the understanding of material properties and connection requirements, featuring TenarisHydril Blue® Dopeless® connection, for underground storage.

By leveraging its industrial heritage to develop innovative products and fostering dialogue and collaboration, Tenaris remains committed to supporting the development and implementation of effective CCUS solutions in Canada and around the globe.

In its third year, the Carbon Capture Canada conference gathered over 4,000 attendees and 100 exhibitors. Tenaris was present also with a booth, showcasing its technologies for Carbon Capture and Storage and Hydrogen applications.
