Make text and icons bigger on Mac


In many apps, you can adjust the size of text or icons.

How to adjust text or icon size

App sidebars

Choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Appearance in the sidebar (you may need to scroll down). Click the “Sidebar icon size” pop-up menu, then choose a size.

Calendar

Go to the Day, Week, or Month view in the Calendar app , then press Command-Plus Sign (+) or Command-Minus Sign (–).

Finder

Click in the Dock to open a Finder window, then choose View > Show View Options. Do any of the following:

  • Click the “Text size” pop-up menu, then choose a text size.

  • Choose an icon size (in Icon view and List view).

  • Choose a thumbnail size (in Gallery view).

Mail

Go to an email in the Mail app , then press Command-Plus Sign (+) or Command-Minus Sign (–).

Messages

Go to a conversation in the Messages app , then press Command-Plus Sign (+) or Command-Minus Sign (–).

News

Go to an article in the News app , then press Command-Plus Sign (+) or Command-Minus Sign (–).

Safari

Go to a webpage in the Safari app , then do one of the following:

  • Adjust the size of everything on the page: Press Command-Option-Plus Sign (+) or Command-Option-Minus Sign (–).

  • Adjust the size of only the text: Press Command-Plus Sign (+) or Command-Minus Sign (–).
