Braces or orthodontics is one of the most common procedure for teenagers nowadays. Most of the kids have naturally malaligned teeth and they are very conscious and embarrassed about the same. Braces is the safest and most non invasive treatment to a beautiful smile and believe us they are in fashion now. However, they require special and proper care as they correct your teeth structure.

Brush at least 5 times a day, floss once a day, and use mouthwash to prevent dental complications. Food choices matter: opt for soft fruits, vegetables, lean meats, and avoid hard or crunchy foods like popcorn and nuts. Eating food with braces
According to Dr. Gunita Singh, cosmetic and dental lasers surgeon, Dentem – the dental and orthodontic clinic, “In general, avoid eating anything hard or sticky. Such foods can loosen bands or break brackets causing delay in your treatment. Cut your food into small pieces before chewing , chew slowly and carefully. Avoid biting into hard food or fruits like apple, pear, guava etc. You can still have your favourite fruits but cut them into small pieces with a knife first and chew slowly. Avoid sweets, chocolates, cakes, pastries, burger, pizza, sugarcane, toffees, rolls, Kachori, samosa, tandoori items, and in general fast food items.”
Oral hygiene with braces
Brush at least twice a day. Rinse with the mouthwash recommended by your orthodontist. Don’t use toothpick or pins to dislodge food particles stuck in brackets or teeth, use the orthodontic brush. Never put pen, pencil, finger or thumb in your mouth. Don’t bite your nails.
Participating in sports
You can play and participate in outdoor sport activities only while wearing a protective head gear (helmet) and a sports guard
