Virginia man Naresh Bhatt who allegedly Googled “how long does it take to get married after spouse die” was charged with murder of his wife four months after the latter’s disappearance in US.
The 37-year-old was indicted by a Prince William County grand jury on charges of murder and defiling a dead body, according to court documents. The body of his wife, Mamta Bhatt has not been found, but investigators have linked her DNA to blood found in the couple’s Manassas home, as confirmed by the police.
Three months before his 28-year-old wife disappeared, Naresh looked up for: “How long does it take to get married after spouse die” and “What happen to debt died spouse,” prosecutors said, as quoted by the New York post.
“From the beginning, we believed that she was murdered,” Police chief Mario Lugo told reporters as quoted by AP.
“I feel we have a strong case for not having the body,” Lugo added.
The investigation into the disappearance of Mamta Bhatt, a pediatric nurse, has drawn international attention to the small northern Virginia community after her family in Nepal and local residents united to search for answers, organizing social media campaigns, community events, and rallies.
Three weeks after Mamta went missing in late July, Naresh was charged with concealing a dead body and remains in jail.
