The Brutalist has already garnered an impressive number of nominations this awards season. With seven Golden Globe nods, nine Critics Choice nominations, and Oscar nods likely on the way, you may be wondering how to watch the film and if it’s on streaming platforms.
Directed by Brady Corbet, The Brutalist tells the story of László Tóth, a Jewish visionary architect who moves to the U.S. with his wife, Erzsébet, after World War II. As they settle in Pennsylvania and try to rebuild their lives, László’s career takes a dramatic turn when he lands a mysterious wealthy client, which ends up influencing both his work and his future.
The star-studded cast features Adrien Brody, Felicity Jones, Guy Pearce, Joe Alwyn, Raffey Cassidy, Stacy Martin, Emma Laird, Isaach de Bankolé and Alessandro Nivola.
Corbet, winner of the Best Director Award at the Venice Film Festival, explained to The Hollywood Reporter in September why he decided wanted to focus on the brutalist architectural movement. “Brutalist architecture is representative of something that people do not understand and that they want torn down and ripped away,” he said. “So, the film is about how post-war psychology shaped post-war architecture.”
At the Golden Globes, The Brutalist is the clear favorite for Best Drama, with outlets like Variety, USA Today, and Vanity Fair all predicting a win. Here’s how to watch the critically acclaimed A24 film now and when it’s expected to hit streaming platforms.

When Will The Brutalist Be Streaming On Max?
The Brutalist will eventually be available to stream Max, but the release date has not yet been announced. In 2023, the film’s production company, A24, signed a deal with Warner Bros. Discovery in December to bring its theatrical films to the streaming site.
The Brutalist will likely arrive on Max within three to five months—or sometime between March and May 2025—though pinpointing an exact release date is challenging, as A24’s Max streaming timelines have varied over the past year.
For example, A24’s Civil War began streaming on Max on September 14, nearly five months after its theatrical release in April 2024. Priscilla landed on Max roughly four months after its theater debut, while MaXXXine had a quicker turnaround, becoming available on the platform just three months later.
When Will The Brutalist Be Streaming On Digital?
The good news is that before The Brutalist arrives on Max, the film will be available to purchase digitally on video-on-demand platforms, including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+, and Fandango at Home, much sooner.
Studios typically release films on digital around 45 to 65 days after its theatrical premiere. This means that the earliest The Brutalist could be streaming on digital platforms is around February 3, 2025.
It’s worth noting that A24 will likely drop The Brutalist digitally in January or February, aligning with the 2025 awards season and ahead of the 97th Academy Awards on March 2, 2025. Stay tuned for the official digital release date.
