If the last two weeks were any indication, more drama could very well await in Matchweek 25 of the Premier League season.
The action will begin with one game on Friday that involves the relegation race. No. 16 Leeds United will host No. 17 Nottingham Forest, with both sides just six points clear of safety. They both ultimately may be fine, but a loss for either would sting.
Saturday’s seven-game slate opens with a “Big 6” clash, as red-hot Manchester United hosts Tottenham Hotspur. The Red Devils have rattled off three wins in a row under interim caretaker Michael Carrick to sit in the top-four race. Spurs managed to nick a 2-2 home draw to Manchester City last time out and will hope to carry that momentum to the north side of the country.
Later, league-leaders Arsenal will host No. 8 Sunderland, who will be without ex-Gunner Granit Xhaka for the occasion. A win for the Gunners would send them nine points clear of City — for at least a day — who face a tough test this matchweek as they travel to Anfield to take on Arne Slot’s Liverpool.
The Reds, sixth place and reigning champions, need a big win in their home atmosphere to get back into the Champions League picture, while Pep Guardiola’s side are seeking a statement of their own.
