The U.S. mixed doubles curling team is headed to the gold medal game.
After making history on Sunday as the first American team to advance to the Olympic semifinals in the event, Korey Dropkin and Cory Thiesse clinched a spot in the final with a 9-8 victory over Italy on Monday. Read the full recap here.
The semifinal victory came after the U.S. team fell to Italy 7-6 in the final round of round-robin play earlier in the day. The U.S. will now take on Sweden for a chance at a gold medal.
No matter the outcome, the U.S. team is guaranteed to take home its first Olympic medal in the event, and Thiesse will become the first U.S. woman to win an Olympic curling medal.
