I tested this in AGOL and it looks like the functionality doesn’t exist within the provided Edit Widget. Any geometry tools are removed when the geometry-less feature is selected. I would recommend posting this in the Ideas forum.
Perhaps a custom widget would be able to accomplish this, but as a work around, I would suggest using Pro to add geometry. Hopefully this scenario isn’t a common one for you.
